Marén Brynard de Klerk was born on 14 August 1968 at Mariental, Republic of Namibia.


He spent the major part of his adult life as a Commercial Attorney working in Windhoek, the Republic of Namibia.




De Klerk was born in Mariental, Namibia into a well to do Afrikaner family and is the youngest sibling of three children.  After completing high school at Hoërskool Gymnasium Paarl, where he was also elected as a prefect, he completed his compulsory South African Military Service where he was promoted to the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. 


After completing his Military Service, he completed his B.COMM, LLB degrees at the University of Stellenbosch in 1994.


He also completed a certificate in commercial law with the University of Cape Town.




De Klerk started working as a State Prosecutor in Windhoek, Namibia in
December 1994.  He completed his Articles at Muller & Brand Attorneys in Windhoek and thereafter joined the firm Ellis & Partners.  During his Article years he finished first in his class at the Justice Training Centre in 1996. 


In September 2001, de Klerk starting his own firm under the name and style of
MB de Klerk & Associates.


In April 2002, de Klerk was admitted as a Notary Public in the Republic of Namibia and also completed his Conveyancing examination successfully and also practised as a Conveyancer in the Republic of Namibia.


De Klerk practised as a Commercial Attorney in Windhoek, Republic of Namibia since 2001 and in 2018 he started a new firm, namely de Klerk, Horn and Coetzee Incorporated together with three co-directors.


During his 10 years as a Commercial Attorney he served on various Directors’ Boards as well as Trusteeships, the most notably of which was the Mushimba Family Trust.  De Klerk also served as a Trustee of the biggest Medical Aid Fund in Namibia, namely Namibia Medical Care Medical Aid Fund.




Marén de Klerk has a wide range of interest ranging from an interest in history especially the Boer War and the Second World War history, philosophy, indigenous trees etc.  In addition, he has got an inclination for reading philosophy and enjoy sports such as squash, trail running, water skiing, mountain biking, open water swimming and the like.




Marén de Klerk  obtained his provincial colours for swimming whilst at school.  During this time, he was also the school’s swimming captain in 1985/1986. 


During his compulsory Military service, de Klerk was also promoted to an officer in the then South African Air Force. 


After completing his studies, de Klerk had to complete the compulsory practical legal training at the Justice Training Centre in Windhoek, Namibia as part of his Articles where he finished first in his class.
